Dr. Derek Fitzgerald is a board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) physician with advanced fellowship training in interventional pain medicine from the University of California, Davis Medical Center. He completed his PM&R residency at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, where he gained extensive experience in musculoskeletal care, neurological rehabilitation, and interventional procedures.
Dr. Fitzgerald takes a personalized, evidence-based approach to treating acute and chronic pain, with expertise in spine and joint pain, neuropathic pain, and sports-related injuries. He is skilled in a range of image-guided procedures, including fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided injections, as well as neuromodulation techniques.
He has been recognized for his leadership, teaching, and research contributions throughout his training, including work focused on virtual reality for pain management and addressing healthcare disparities. Known for his collaborative and compassionate care, Dr. Fitzgerald is committed to improving quality of life for his patients.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys basketball, traveling, football, and exploring new places to eat with family and friends.
